First Bike Ride of the Season…!

First Bike Ride of the Season, very enjoyable, but who designs those seats anyway? My tush is out of shape for even a quick 1/2 hour ride, and the wind was strong out of the south, which made 1/2 of my little circle hard to peddle, but the other 1/2 was very easy with the wind at my back.

I have not been able to do my regular workouts as regularly as I want for the last six weeks or so, and I have eaten not quite so well as the cold has kept me inside, so I have gained about 3 pounds back from last years 45 pound weight loss.

Now it is time to really get back in the saddle and get those three, and the other remaining 15 pounds off. I have sluffed off a bit on my Sisel Shakes and the triangle of life too, but warmer weather means it is time to get after it. My work schedule may change soon, so I might be able to work out early, then go to work, then ride in the afternoon, or chase the kids around.

And about those bicycle seats? I saw a picture the other day of a really old bike, which had a wooden seat. Made me thankful for what I have.

By the way, my son says my old grey head is growing darker hair. How could that be? Another of the Sisel Products I am using is called Revitalizer for hair and nails…could there be a connection?

Are You Ready for This? Weight Lifts for the Elderly

Jeff Fluck’s Product Story Or How He Became the “Weight Loss King” or The Guy Who Loses Weight Without Exercising

Very interesting message from the gentleman whose video you see in the right sidebar, Jeff Fluck.
I was familiar with most of it except the part where he lost weight without exercise. That is most remarkable to me, but on to Jeff’s story, in his words.

“One great example of just how successful this product is a man who goes by the name of Jeff Fluck. Jeff lives in the small city of Beloit, Wisconsin. He was a normal guy just going about living his life day to day when the unthinkable happened….

In a matter of months, he was involved in not one car accident… but two!

All the trauma to his back caused him to develop several bulging disks which kept him nearly bed ridden.

Unable to really move around Jeff quickly started gaining weight. At his peak he was at 363 pounds.

To make things worse he started having several other health issues due to the weight he had put on. These included:

High Blood Pressure
Borderline Diabetes

He was taking medication to help combat these conditions, but they often times caused even more problems than they fixed.

Finally, he had enough.

He started looking for ways that he could begin losing weight without exercise due to his limited mobility.

That’s when Jeff found the Sisel product line, including their weight loss products.

Impressed by their global presence, the company’s dedication to producing healthy, toxin- and chemical-free green products and more than 25 years of scientific research, Jeff started using some of their products, including the weight loss meal replacement shakes called Siselean.

The results?

In a little more than a year since he started Jeff is still losing weight and has lost a total of 131 pounds!

To put that into perspective Jeff says he is down 18 holes on his belt (yes he had added a few)!

He is now off all the medication he was once on for high blood pressure & depression.

He is no longer a borderline diabetic.

Not to mention his energy level has gone through the roof and he is no longer constantly hungry thanks to the Siselean shakes helping to curb his Ghrelin production (you can Google “Ghrelin” Hormone—it is nicknamed “The Hormone of Hunger”).

In fact Jeff won the first Sisel weight loss competition they had here in the US by losing 65 pounds in a 3 month period!

He even says:

“I applied for new health insurance and my premium went from $987.00 per month down to $181.00 per month! A savings of $806.00 per month or $9,672.00 PER YEAR!!!!!

And my food/grocery Bill is down at LEAST $250.00 per month which saves me another $3,000.00 per year. A Total Savings of $12,672.00 PER YEAR!”

+++PLUS+++ And Read this CLOSELY PLEASE: The Siselean product is Soooo Scientifically Advanced that for every 20 pounds that Jeff has Lost these natural ingredients have “Flushed-out” 25 pounds of Fat & Added 5 Pounds of Lean Muscle Mass to his Body—–Without Jeff doing Any Excercise ! THAT MEANS that Jeff has LOST 163 pounds of FAT & He has Gained 32 pounds of Lean Muscle Mass—-And….NO Sagging Skin on Jeff’s Body !

Jeff’s story is only one of the many out there.

Countless people are losing weight and feeling healthier, more energized and simply enjoying life even more. Others have just firmed-up the sagging skin on their bodies. AND Gym-Rats go CRAZY over the FAST, Muscle Mass Increases on Their Bodies !

Jeff’s incredible success has given him the passion to introduce hundreds of others to this science-based method of losing weight.

Many of Jeff’s friends & business associates…….Male & Female alike……say that this is the Easiest Weight Loss they have ever experienced in their lifetime. Nearly 150 people in Jeff’s hometown of Beloit, Wisconsin alone !

Maybe this is how Jeff got the nickname: “The-Weight-Loss-King” !!!!”

Rockford Senior Weight Loss and More?

Rockford Senior Weight Loss and More?

The not so chubby hubby is coming up on a one year  anniversary soon, and the not so chubby hubby remains down a cool 45 pounds, even though I have strayed a bit from the plan that I adhered too last spring and summer which made the weight come off so easily.

If you remember, on a lark last spring, I put on  a Body Media arm band, and noticed that when I had it on, I paid a bit more attention to what I ate and when I ate, and after a week, for the heck of it, I weighed, and I had lost five pounds.  The arm band had my attention, so I began to use it and the program that comes with it daily and the weight began to melt off, much to my amazement.

Then I began to notice some Facebook posts from a friend, reporting he had lost 120 pounds using a meal replacement shake.  So I tried it, and it and the arm band and the regular eating and the recording of meals, and a little extra exercise in the form of bicycle riding resulted in 45 pounds of weight loss by Sept, when my life changed significantly, and by that I mean a divorce and some financial setbacks, but I maintained my regimen through most of the holiday season, and through a physical where my Doc told me he was proud of me.

Based on my experience with the meal replacement shake, I decided to try one of the anti-aging products offered by this company, called TSR-X, not expecting much of anything to happen visibly, so you can imagine my surprise when my ex-asked me if my hair and eye brows were darker.  Julie is very attentive to those kinds of things, so I am going to continue using the TSR-X, and at the corporate convention one month ago, Sisel released a new product called Revitalizer, which is designed to impact bald heads…they could get new hair.  After all the guy who owns this company is the inventor of rogaine.

Could this be a makeover of the internal kind?  Could I be a walking bill board for the impact of the products of this company?  What Baby Boomer would not go for more hair and smaller waste line?

So stay tuned folks, for some interesting before and after picks.

Rockford Senior Weight Loss and Antiaging Too?

Rockford Senior Weight Loss and Antiaging Too?

In April of 2012, I happened to put on a Body Media arm band that my wife Julie had laying around,  and because I could feel it on my arm, I managed to cut out a few of the calories I ordinarily consume late in the evening, but paid little attention to my diet otherwise.  On a whim, about seven days later I weighed, and I had lost five pounds.

Now my curiosity was piqued, and I began to explore the capabilities of the arm band more seriously, logging in each morning and recording meals eaten and making sure that I was burning more calories than taking in, ect. and I lost 12 pounds that month, which was very amazing to me.  I had been wishing and hoping to lose some of the 60 pounds I put on in graduate school oh so long ago, but had never made any headway with that, and now I was, and then I began to notice Facebook posts from a friend who was reporting that he had lost 120 pounds using a meal replacement shake, so I called him, and ordered some, and began to very religiously follow someone else’s directions and the weight continued to come off, to the tune of 45 pounds, between May and Oct.  When I went to my Doc for my annual physical he cautioned against trying to get back to 180, which is what I weighed in college in my football playing days.  Maybe I should say football practicing days.  So I slowed down a bit on the weight loss efforts but have maintained a 45 pound weight loss for four or five months now.

So based on my experience with the meal replacement shake, I began to use the anti-aging product called TS-X, which is about telomere support.  I do not know much about the science of telomere support, but I wanted to see what would happen after three or four months, because the meal replacement shake sure did work.

One of the things others have reported is that hair darkens again, as telomeres get the support they need, but I was more looking for flexibility and strength, so can you imagine my surprise yesterday when I was talking to my ex-wife, and she asked me if my eyebrows and hair were darker?  I had not noticed, but if she who is the fashion maven notices, it must be accurate.

I find Julie’s observation to be very encouraging.  So now I will continue to take by TS-X and when it gets a little warmer out, I am going to lose the last 10 pounds and get down to 185.  Want to join me?

Molecular Proof: Exercise Keeps You Young

Senior Weight Loss and Antiaging

The great thing about exercise for telomere protection and brain fitness (the growth of new neurons and neural connections) is that you do not have to train for the Olympics or a triathalon to benefit.  For our purposes, and I mean from a 64 year old guy working on word recall issues,  exercise that makes me breathe a deeply enough that it is hard to exercise and talk at the same time is all that is necessary.  Think walk a little further a little faster.  No expensive club membership necessary, no expensive, stylish workout attire necessary, no trainer necessary, just a committment to walk.  I do have a YMCA membership, and I use it frequently, but it is not necessary for you.  Just get going.

Molecular Proof: Exercise Keeps You Young.

Senior Body Building

Senior Body Building

OK, allow me a moments vanity. I am in the process of shedding 60 pounds of extra weight,  and have lost 45 pounds in the last 7 months, and I am seeing some muscle definition emerging.

I have been a regular exerciser since I finished graduate school in 1996, including a weight lifting regimen, but have never been able to regulate my late night eating until the last few months, so while there was still some muscle mass on my body, it was buried under a significant layer of fat.

Now that the fat is disappearing, I am seeing muscle definition again, and I am curious about what other folks my age are doing to enhance muscle definition, and there are a number of folks my age (64) who are even training for body building competitions, and apparently there is even some question about steroid use in senior body builders…which is not for me.

I do use a testosterone topical prescribed by my Doc, and my good friend Dr. Lineback, and M.D. in California suggests that I should use a testosterone shot instead of the topical because it is more bio-available than the cream, but I am not going to risk anything more than what my Doc prescribes.

However, there are folks even older than me who are looking very good for 70, for example, because they are lifting for definition.  While I am not sure I want to exhaust muscle groups quite the way I remember body builders doing, I am very intrigued by what my senior body building peers  are doing.

I remember not too many years ago my local paper, the Rockford Register Star, included an article about a guy I used to see at my local YMCA who was a power lifting champion.  He had not even lifted weights until he was 50, and was doing very well in competitions.

As I re-read this, I think I am getting ready to begin a more strenuous weight lifting routine, and of course, I will do more of another of  Dr. Lineback recommendations, called deep water running.  I tried it the other day, and it was a weird experience, and actually very tiring.

One resource I will continue using is the Sisel Meal Replacement Shake, which has been a part of my seniors weight loss regimen, and the TS-X, which is for telomere protection.

Just beginning to read up on telomere protection, but Dr. Lineback is using a product that costs $800.00 per month, which says to me that there must be telomere gold out there somewhere.

But please do not look for me posing in the muscle mags though,  I am enjoying my re-emerging definition in private.

Avoid Holiday Overeating? Can I Sustain My Senior Weight Loss Routine?

Avoid Holiday Overeating?

Isn’t overeating throughout the holiday season an American tradition?  Even I was thinking this morning about making banana bread  with my daughter Hannah, since we have a couple of ripe bananas that will soon go in the garbage if not used , and I am not a baker.

Crockpot yes, oven no, but she will soon go home to her mom’s and I could get stuck with the banana bread, and then my training from childhood will take over, which I learned from my Depression Era parents, that if you took it you eat it.

I have struggled the entire time my children have been here with their uneaten portions, which get thrown out if I don’t eat them, and when I eat them I end up where I ended up for the last 20 years, carrying around an extra 60 pounds.

However, since last April, I have shed 45 pounds of that weight, and here we are at the holidays, and my comfort food desire is whispering to me that you can work it off after the holidays, trust me, so go ahead and have that extra pumpkin pie.

So my vigilance is going to have to be strong, as I move through Thanksgiving and Christmas and the holidays, and I will have to keep my Sisel meal replacement shaker close by, and keep it filled with the  best protein shake meal replacement I have ever found.

A Sisel Meal Replacement shake once or twice a day keeps me reminded of the last 15 pounds that I want to lose, which will take me back to 180 pounds.  The last time I weighed 180 was when I was maybe 30 years old.  So I will write frequently between now and the end of the holidays about the mental aspect of keeping my senior weight loss going.

It feels so good to be down that much weight, and of course my weight loss shadow tells me that I have done enough…take a break…but the last break I took from paying attention to my appetite lasted 30 plus years.  Don’t think I have that many left.

Brain Exercises for Seniors-Weight Lifting and the Treadmill?

Brain Exercises for Seniors

So you came to this page because you were intrigued about senior weight loss and you were looking for some information on the best protein shake meal replacement as a part of your weight loss regimen,  and the title indicates that this post is about  lifting weights and exercising?

What gives?  Before you run away, there are some very big benefits to your brain when you exercise, and those benefits happen rapidly, and are sustainable,  provided you continue an exercise regimen. (Does not have to be Olympic Caliber)   Those benefits happen faster than your typical weight loss, which is very important to your brain health also.

Perhaps you have heard of the book Brainfit for Life by Simon Evans, Ph.D. and Paul Burghardt, Ph.D?  Evans and Burghardt have written a very interesting e-book for ($17.95) which teaches us about the pillars of brain fitness and how attending to the pillars of brain fitness facilitates the growth of new neurons and new connections between neurons.  We can encourage neurogenesis or the growth of new neurons and neuroplasticity, which is the growth of new connections between neurons from day one of our senior weight loss program.

So There is an overlap between weight loss exercise and brain fitness exercise?  You bet your much slimmer bottom there is an overlap.

Hope you do not think the Pillars of Brain Fitness involve magic wands or magic potions.  The pillars are actually very much under our control.

They are;

  1. Physical Exercise
  2. Nutrition, including antioxidants and Omega 3 fatty acid.
  3. Good sleep.
  4. Stress Managment
  5. Novel Learning Experiences.

Next post I will go into more detail about what Evans and Burghardt suggest in Brainfit for Life    .

For now, though just think about how your senior weight loss exercise  is going to keep line up very nicely with your brain exercises for seniors

Seniors Weight Loss-How?

Seniors Weight Loss

So you have made it past your AARP membership at age 50,  even joined up,  and you are now looking at all the Medicare materials  coming in the mail, and perhaps getting back in shape seems like a pipe dream.  After all, hasn’t your metabolism changed?   Doesn”t the passage of years justify that bowl of ice cream?  Kids are up and gone, no need to run anymore.

Are there not a million and one excuses?

I want to propose that you reconsider the possibility of Seniors Weight loss, because I have lost 45 pounds since April of 2012, at age 64. (today’s date is 11-15-12).  I have not had to diet, deny myself, eat tiny portions of salad, or do any of what my mom did to lose weight back when I was half a century younger.

How am I doing this weight loss thing you ask?  I am taking advantage of technology that was not even dreamed of by my parents, meal replacement shakes that are based on science not yet done until a few years ago, and good old fashioned exercise using an elliptical trainer, a treadmill, weights, and a bicycle.  The part of weight loss that requires burning more calories than you take in has not changed.

However, the technology I am referring to is a pedometer and a web site that allows me to record my steps and my calorie intake so that I get a picture of my calorie burn each day, plan meals, get reminders, and have my cell phone beep if need be when it is time to eat.

The pedometer is like a little conscience on my arm, so when I walk upstairs for kleenex and somehow end up by the refrigerator, I do not eat that piece of fried chicken, and my seniors weight loss continues.

Now the next part of the story involves a friend of mine who has lost over 120 pounds using a meal replacement shake.  As I began to successfully drop  a few pounds last April, I  noticed  his posts on Facebook about the incredible amount of weight he had lost, so I called him, and tried out the Sisel Meal Replacement Shakes and I have used a shake or two almost every day since the beginning of May.  I am not a scientist, so I cannot evaluate the research for you, and the marketing always makes incredible claims, but I cannot argue with the new pair of jeans I bought earlier this week which are a 36 inch waist instead of the 42 inch waist jeans I wore to the store.

Now for the exercise.  I am not doing anything differently than I was doing earlier this year.  No expensive club memberships, no personal trainer, no incredible crunch machine bought on TV, just going to my local YMCA for my usual workout.  The one thing that is different is that the lighter I get the more resistance I can put on the machines I use, within reason.

Weight loss, yes, injury, no.

Are there benefits besides seeing some muscle definition under the last 15 pounds of fat?  You bet?  Neurogenesis and neuroplasticty, to name two, which are big words for the growth on new neurons and new connections between neurons.

That is right, replacement parts for your brain, and I will share more on that tomorrow.
